Abstract
Engineering education is facing nowadays many transnational challenges as a consequence of rapid social changes. New technology developments, globalized markets, proliferation of information, social responsibility and participatory corporate structures of companies, as well as the endangered environment are only few examples of the new circumstances that practicing engineers are facing today, different from those of the past. And the circumstances of the future will be even more different within an international context. Significant changes in engineering education at the university level will be required in order to satisfy the needs of our graduates in preparing them for the challenges of the present century.
This special session is focused on presenting case studies, demonstrative and ongoing experiences concerning engineering education innovation and research. Contributions dealing with innovative practices in higher education in engineering are welcome.
